About this painting:

This painting is mentioned and illustrated in John’s autobiography ‘My life, all the little things’ on page 72

John was travelling with his family in South Africa when he painted this piece and describes the day he painted it, he writes:

Going to the Old Docks, where I dragged my reluctant family in the heat of the day, I made line drawings and watercolours, the last of which was called ‘Harvest Moon on the Slip’. I remember being worn out when I painted it, entirely on the spot and it was one of my best watercolours ever and is now in my personal collection. So much for being comfortable when making pictures!’
